Hebrews 10:38 – Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him
Every day of our lives, every few hours for some (every few minutes for others) we do the simple motion of putting our hand to our mouth and consuming something; a libation, a snack, a meal. It is as natural as falling asleep, as autonomic a response as there ever was — feeding.
Before we could fashion pictures into words, we screamed to have our bellies cravings satisfied. Before we could understand why it was that we had to put ‘that’ into ‘this’ we quickly learned to carry out that action. We did not have to be taught to eat; we did not have to be taught to drink. We only had to scream and strangers we had not named yet came and took care of that scream. THEY KNEW WHAT IT MEANT. We didn’t call them by name. We didn’t make sure that our request was perfectly worded. We didn’t try to come up with a hundred reasons why they wouldn’t give it to us! We screamed. And in time we ‘grabbed’ violently taking it to ourselves, for ourselves.
We didn’t understand that it was death we were trying to avoid; we just knew it hurt not to have it. We didn’t know that our bodies were these incredible machines designed to process all the good and bad of what we consumed through the factory of our existence to the producing of good product and by-product. We just didn’t think about it.
As we got older our cry changed, but the need to place object A into location B to the satisfying of inner C never ever changed. In the natural it did not change. In the spiritual it did not change. Food is what helps us to LIVE. Water is what helps us to LIVE. If we don’t eat, we die. If we don’t drink, we die. If we don’t rest, we die. If we don’t wake up, we die. Our life hangs in the balance every day waiting to FEED. In the natural we ‘get it’, but in the spiritual we can be so ignorant sometimes.
God created HUNGER; God created THIRST. Why? To summon HIM! He is our parent, and we were His children. He knows that we would have a deep groaning that only He could come fill. Even when we did not know His name He was standing ready to hear that cry, and to respond. He knew that we would cry out for ‘IT’ and he would supply ‘IT’. He never expected us to doubt that He would supply. FOR WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
Jesus said to His disciple: FEED MY SHEEP. Why did he make that a mandate?? Because He knew the sheep would be always hungry! Why did Christ say to the woman at the well, ‘if you would have asked of me I would have given you water’? (John 4:10) Because He knew that we would have to come unto Him to drink! Blessed are they that are hungry and thirsty.
God expected us to cry out like children to receive of His Word and of His Spirit!
It is the only thing that can satisfy that indefinable pain inside that comes up on a daily basis; sometimes hourly, sometimes every few minutes. It is by being a PARTAKER of faith that we get life, FOREVER LIFE. Faith is our FOOD – and the Father wants you fed! Eat!

Romans 10:17 – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1 Corinthians 2:5 – That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
