[Archive 1999] The Law of Faith: Understanding the Foundation of Your Belief

Hey there! It’s Penny here from Presence Of The Lord Ministries USA. I am so excited to dive back into our archives today. We’re looking at a powerful teaching from Pastor Anthony J. Massotti, Th.M., originally penned in 1999. If you’ve been looking for solid spiritual growth resources to help with deepening faith, this archive is a absolute goldmine. Grab your coffee and your Bible: we’re going deep!

"Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith." : Romans 3:27 (KJV)

Have you ever felt like you were drowning in a sea of "should-haves" and "must-dos"? Does your heart ache with the heavy burden of trying to earn God’s favor through your own strength? Have you ever reached the end of a long, exhausting day and felt that you are still somehow "not enough" for the Kingdom?

We have all been there. We have all looked at the mirror of the Law and seen only our own reflection: marred, broken, and failing. But there is a secret, a divine governing principle that changes everything. It is not a suggestion or a temporary fix; it is a spiritual Law.

In this archive from 1999, Pastor Anthony J. Massotti, Th.M. unpacks what he calls THE LAW OF FAITH. This is the bedrock of your christian walk with christ. Without understanding this Law, we are like a ship without a rudder, tossed by every wind of doctrine and every firebrand of emotional devastation the enemy throws our way.

The Great Dichotomy: Works vs. Faith

The enemy is a wolf cloaked in sheep’s clothing, and his favorite disguise is "The Law of Works." He wants you to believe that your standing with God is a shifting sandbar of your own performance. But the Word of God presents us with a sharp dichotomy. It is either the Law of Works: which leads only to boasting and eventual death: or it is THE LAW OF FAITH.

When we try to mix the two, it is like putting dirt in a vase of pure water; the clarity is gone, and the life-giving nature of the Word is choked out. We must CHOOSE. We must choose the Law that excludes boasting and includes the Light of God.

The Shield of Faith

18 Pillars of the Law of Faith

Drawing from the 1999 teaching by Pastor Anthony J. Massotti, Th.M., we find eighteen distinct scriptural principles that govern this Law. To be successful in growing in faith, we must not only read these but internalize them until they become our very breath.

1. HAVE FAITH IN GOD (Mark 11:22). This is the starting point. We do not have faith in our faith; we have FAITH IN GOD. He is the object and the source.

2. THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH (Romans 1:17). This is not a one-time event at an altar. It is your daily oxygen. You do not live by your feelings or your bank account; you live by the Law of Faith.

3. FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD (Romans 10:17). If your faith feels weak, check your "hearing." Are you listening to the whispers of the enemy or the thunder of the Word?

4. THEY WHICH BE OF FAITH ARE BLESSED (Galatians 3:9). You are not blessed because you are perfect; you are blessed because you are of FAITH.

5. WHATSOEVER IS NOT OF FAITH IS SIN (Romans 14:23). This is a solemn warning. When we step out from under the Law of Faith, we step into the territory of the flesh.

6. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS FAITH (Galatians 5:22). True faith is a natural byproduct of the Spirit’s presence in your life. It grows as you abide in the Vine.

7. WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT (2 Corinthians 5:7). Your eyes will lie to you. The circumstances will scream defeat. But the Law of Faith says "Behold the Unseen."

8. THE SHIELD OF FAITH (Ephesians 6:16). Faith is your primary defense. It quenches the fiery darts of the devil before they can reach your soul.

9. THE BREASTPLATE OF FAITH (1 Thessalonians 5:8). While the shield moves, the breastplate covers your heart. Faith protects your emotional core from the devastation of betrayal and doubt.

10. WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD (Hebrews 11:6). You can do many "good things," but if they are not rooted in faith, they do not touch the heart of the Father.

The Ancient Scroll of Truth

11. FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR (Hebrews 11:1). Behold the linguistic depth here! In the Greek, "substance" is hypostasis: it means a "setting under" or a "support." Faith is the literal foundation under your hopes.

12. YOUR FAITH HATH MADE THEE WHOLE (Mark 5:34). Notice that Jesus often attributed the miracle to the person’s faith. The Law of Faith activates the power of the Divine in the physical realm.

13. THE PRAYER OF FAITH SHALL HEAL THE SICK (James 5:15). It is not the loudness of the prayer or the status of the person praying, but the quality of the faith behind it.

14. RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH (Romans 4:13). We are not made right by keeping a checklist. We are made right by believing the One who is Righteous.

15. JUSTIFIED BY FAITH (Romans 5:1). Being "justified" means "just-as-if-I’d" never sinned. This is only possible through the Law of Faith.

16. FULL OF FAITH AND WISDOM (Acts 6:3). To lead, to serve, and to grow, you must be filled with this spiritual substance.

17. FAITH MOVES MOUNTAINS (Matthew 17:20). Nothing is too big for the Law of Faith. If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, the mountain MUST obey.

18. FAITH WORKETH BY LOVE (Galatians 5:6). Faith without love is a cold machine. To truly operate in the Law of Faith, it must be energized by the love of the Savior.

A Linguistic Distinction: Faith vs. Hope

Many people confuse faith with hope, but in the [Archive 1999] THE LAW OF FAITH, we see they are distinct. Hope is a beautiful desire for the future: it looks ahead. But FAITH is for now. Faith is the "substance" (the literal building block) of that which is hoped for. Hope says "I hope I get healed someday," but Faith says "I am healed by His stripes today."

Moving Mountains of Doubt

Spiritual Warfare: The Fight for Your Faith

We must understand that the "enemy": the devil: does not care about your money or your reputation as much as he cares about your faith. Why? Because if he can steal your faith, he steals your access to the power of God. He uses the "Law of Works" to make you feel guilty, or he uses "Sight" to make you feel afraid.

This is spiritual warfare. Your mind is the battlefield. When a thought comes that contradicts the Word, YOU must do something. You must cast it down and replace it with a "Thus saith the Lord."

The Pastor’s Corner: A Private Prayer

In reflecting on these truths, we might pray as Pastor Anthony J. Massotti, Th.M. often suggests:
"Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. I choose today to walk by the Law of Faith and not the Law of Works. I take up the Shield of Faith to quench every dart of the enemy. I stand on the foundation of Thy Word, which cannot be shaken."

Immediate Spiritual Action

Beloved, do not let this teaching simply sit in your mind. Take action now:

  1. IDENTIFY the "mountain" in your life that has been mocking you.
  2. HEAR the Word specifically regarding that mountain.
  3. SPEAK to that mountain using the Law of Faith.
  4. CHOOSE LIFE and refuse to let the dirt of legalism contaminate your walk.

The Word as Enlightenment

I hope this archived teaching blesses you as much as it did me! It’s such a powerful reminder that our walk with Christ isn't about our own strength, but about the beautiful Law of Faith. Have an amazing week growing in His grace!
